Description

A smaller growing palm to about 2.5 m with heavily spined, trunk, petioles, and rhachis, Even the flower spathe has spines, It has large, simple, or sparingly divided leaves. Leaflets are dark green above, and silvery underneath. Requirements: Light shade to full sun, Exists from the tropics to the sub-tropics, but is most common in Central America.
